It was Saturday night and extremely cold outside. My husband and I usually go out to dinner but on this night, we decided to cook up some steaks, hash browns, chop up some salad and open a bottle of wine. I was recently given the Ruffino Riserva Ducale Chianti Classico, Riserva 2008 for review, so we opened the bottle and starting drinking.
When we poured it in our decanter, the striking black cherry color illuminated the glass. When I poured it in a wine glass, I swirled it around, tasted it and noticed it was medium bodied. The flavor was incredible. What a great table wine and I’m not saying this because I had a bottle given to me. If I didn’t think it was a good table wine, I wouldn’t even write about it here in the blog.
The Chianti doesn’t taste fruity. It has a subtle dry taste that is smooth and really comes out as you keep drinking it. It can be drunk with or without dinner. I would love to try the Ruffino Riserva Ducale Chianti Classico with an assortment of cheese. But it was totally complementary to our aged steaks.
I’m not a wine conniseour so when I go into a wine store, I have a hard time finding the perfect wine to bring home after a day of work. The next time I go into a wine shop, I will definitely put this one on my list.
