We Really Have Become a Patient Society…

ImpatientIt’s amazing how much we wait. I bet that if you calculate the time that an average person waits on line, waits on the phone for customer service or waits in a doctor’s office, it would take up a significant portion of his/her life.

According to Answers.com, if a person lives until 65, he/she will spend almost half his/her life waiting for something.

The waiting can be anything. It can be waiting on line to get Broadway Show tickets. It could be hanging on the phone with Apple. It could even be waiting in the emergency room waiting to be seen. It could be waiting on line for the bank.  It could be waiting for almost anything!

Now for the most part, I’m a patient person but after a while of waiting, I get on edge like the rest of you folks out there.

So tell me, what do you do to be patient when you wait?

Try to always have something to read – or catch up on my Words with Friends games using my phone.

great advice!  Today, I went to the doctor and was prepared by bringing my computer.  I was so engrossed in what I was doing that I didn’t realize an hour went by…. hahahaha

I Tweet up a storm. If there are like 10 new Tweets from me within 30 minutes it’s because I was waiting for something, ha ha. I also catch up on emails and daily news feeds.

I love it!  I’m going to watch out for that.  What’s your twitter handle?

I only go to efficient doctors who do not overbook. If I wait for 20 minutes and haven’t been called I usually reschedule if it’s a doctor that I like or just don’t go back if it’s just a doctor. If it’s a business situation I will complain or just not go back. I recently complained about a Chase bank branch and was pleasantly surprised at the follow up by a regional manager. He asked me to let him know if the problem continured to happen and gave me his cell phone #.

Angela, please share your doctors!  I guess my GP doesn’t make me wait but my gyn will make me wait for hours.  Then when I’m in the room with him he only talks about himself and his problems… (I should get paid for that!)

Also, the Chase bank story is great. Everyone should provide good customer service… H:)
