On most weekends, we just hang out at home. We don’t really do anything exciting. But, yesterday, my family and I traveled back in time to early Egypt when there were Pharaohs and slaves.
We met a group of EO‘ers (Entrepreneur Organization) and their families at an event called, “Walk Like An Egyptian,” hosted by the NYC chapter. The EONYC group toured the Egyptian exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on 5th Avenue and 83rd Street in NYC.
Fellow EO’er, Josh Rockoff of Strike Interactive, was our tour guide. Josh is a skilled hieroglyphic reader and expert on Egyptian history. It was very interesting and Josh did a great job helping us all get a glimpse of Egyptian life in the early days.
After the hour and a half tour, we all parted ways and my family and I decided to view some of the other exhibits at the museum, including Japanese art, musical instrument and the early colonial exhibit. What a nice day, except I wasn’t wearing the right shoes and boy did my feet hurt me!
We ate a lovely lunch at the museum’s cafeteria and when we all had enough, we decided to go to the East Village and walk around some more. (This time, I changed my shoes and put on heels. I couldn’t even think about putting back on those other torture shoes!) We went there, because my son was craving Gyu Kaku, his favorite Japanese BBQ, located by Cooper Union.
It was a nice and relaxing day, almost felt like a mini-vacation…. (Weekends should feel that way so when you get back to work, you feel refreshed and ready to go!)
Did you do anything exciting this weekend? If not, next weekend consider taking a travel to Egypt via the Metropolitan Museum of Art….
