Here are five tips on how to get through the college process.
- Try to be unattached. This is going to be hard because your baby is moving on with his life but the less emotional you get, the better!
- Don’t tour schools before your child is accepted. What happens if your child falls in love with a school and then doesn’t get accepted? Tour after he gets accepted.
- Try not to understand the acceptance process because it makes no sense! Your child will get into some schools and will be rejected or wait listed from others…
- Ask questions, even if your child gets angry or embarrassed. The answers will probably be relevant for his decision.
- If your child wants to go across the country, let him go. He needs to find himself and the only way he will do that is if you let him go…
Getting through the college process is difficult. It’s emotional for the parents and the student. I just wonder if I could take my own advice!
