The other night, I went to see Roger Daltry, lead singer of The Who, sing his famous rock opera, Tommy, at the Nassau Coliseum.
The show was as amazing as you would expect. Daltry is now 68 years old and boy could he still belt one out!
The thing about the concert that struck me was the venue — the Nassau Coliseum. Okay, the tickets were a fortune but that’s what you would expect to pay. However, do they really have to charge the attendees for parking? Don’t you think that $20 is a little steep for parking on Long Island at an event that you already paid top dollar for?
And if that wasn’t enough, you can’t believe the prices of everything. I purchased a pretzel. It only cost $6.50. My husband purchased a beer. It was a mere $9.50. After buying drinks and snacks, we spent almost $100! It was ridiculous.
When we got to our seats, we just shook our heads. They were a mess. Our three seats were all broken and we kept falling off of them. So along with getting squished in a seat, we couldn’t actually sit on the seat.
The county has some nerve to charge such big bucks for everything and then not provide the attendees with proper, comfortable seating!
If it weren’t for wanting to see Roger Daltry, I wouldn’t go there…

That’s how Nassau County is going to get it’s residents to pay for a new arena – by letting the existing one fall apart. As for the concession prices, well, there’s no logical explanation for that.
