The 2016 SmartCEO Brava Awards
I received a BRAVA Award from Smart CEO magazine. I’m proud to say this was my second one – once in NYC and now Long Island. It was a great honor and it was also an honor to have some of my clients join me by receiving an award.
The day came, my clients/friends and I wore our “Sunday” best. We were excited. We didn’t really know what to expect.
We were greeted when we entered the Westbury Manor with a glass of champagne. Nice touch. When we entered the hors deourvres room, we noticed that there was the usual selection of pasta station, stir-fry station and a mix of everything else station. There were also passed appetizers, mostly fried foods. In a smaller room, there was an extended assortment of fruits, veggies and cheeses. The food wasn’t very good, so I ate as little as possible. It was also very warm in the room so I kept having glasses and glasses of water and diet coke to keep hydrated.
After an hour, we were asked to go into the main area. When we walked in, there were tables everywhere, except for the back two rows, there were just chairs. I wasn’t sure why they did it like that since there was room for additional tables. To be honest, I was horrified. Here I nominated my clients and told them it was an amazing event and we sat in the back as if we were wait staff? It was very embarrassing.
The rest of the evening was lovely. The awards were nice and the presentation was done well. They showed a video while we were going up on stage. Here’s mine:
I am really honored to be part of an amazing group of women, just wish the organizers had thought of another way to make the honorees feel special.
