St. Agnes Gala Huge Success!

13.jpgBefore I started HJMT, I worked in College Point at a non-profit organization called P.S.C.H. (Professional Service Centers for the Handicapped). We helped people with developmental disabilities and mental retardation to learn job skills, life skills and help them find housing in the community. I was the director of PR and development. When I was able to leave the building, and that was pretty infrequently because I was so busy wearing so many hats, I would go downstairs to the local deli and notice all the girls from St. Agnes High School. They all wore uniforms and all seemed so close. I oftened wondered about the school.

When I left P.S.C.H. to start HJMT COMMUNICATIONS, LLC, I forgot about St. Agnes High School. Until one day, we got a call from Sister Joan. I met with her and two of her top administrators at the school. Driving to College Point brought back some old memories. I always liked the town and the people who lived there were terrific!

We were hired by St. Agnes High School nearly a year ago to help organize their 100th Anniversary celebration. We coordinated the logistics, worked with the committee, worked with the sponsors, helped coordinate the raffle prizes and worked with the venue and vendors. We also designed all of their graphics for the gala including a 100th anniversary logo, invitation, journal and signage!

This was a very special gala. Everyone seemed to know each other, and yet, everyone was so friendly and nice. They loved being at the gala because St. Agnes held a special place in their hearts! I met friends who have known each other for 20 years, 30 years and even 40 years!

The one thing that really struck me about the evening was that it wasn’t superficial! Every speech came from the heart! Each of the honorees had such a wonderful experience at St. Agnes and it showed. (If there were prospects in the room, the school would be completely booked at the end of the evening!)

We even had some celebrities in the room like Juliet Papa, from 1010 wins Radio. She was the MC for the evening. We even had Mike from Mike and the Mad Dog on WFAN at the event. He auctioned off Giant’s tickets and did a great job doing it! Here are some photos from the evening….
