Selling on EBay, is it worth it?
Some people will tell you that they’ve made a ton of money on EBay, but I’ve been doing it now for a while and I can assure you that you will probably end up losing money!
I had 50 pairs of sneakers and they were all in great shape. I tried to sell them. The most I’ve gotten for a pair of new sneakers that were hardly used was $10. I charge one amount and end up spending more on shipping, even the least expensive way.
I recently sold a pair of hiking boots that I had worn at a music festival. I sold them for $10 and got an additional $10 for shipping. When I went to ship them out, it ended up costing me an additional $10. So I was down $10.
My husband didn’t understand why I sent them out anyway. “Someone is expecting them. I don’t want to disappoint.”
A few weeks later, EBay notified me that the buyer never received the hiking boots. I couldn’t understand it because I shipped it UPS but couldn’t find the receipt. So, I had to reimburse the buyer the $20 that he paid. Boy, was I upset! On top of that, EBay took a percentage. So, at the end of the day, you are left with a negative balance.
EBay sent me a questionnaire and asked if I would recommend them. What do you think I said?
