Personally, I hate big networking parties. I find them to be so superficial. There are so many people, you can barely say “hi” to the person on your right and “my name is….” to the person on your left.
So at HJMT, we decided to hold intimate gatherings were we could meet with people we haven’t seen in a long time; meet with friends I met through Entrepeneurs Organization (EO), Long Island Forum for Technology, and other committees in which I serve; or meet friends from Facebook, Twitter, Plaxo and LinkedIn.
We started to hold these in NYC at the Terrace Club. They have been going great.
Last night, Lisa Gordon and I had a meetup at Peter Geyer’s Steakhouse in Rochester. We weren’t the only group there though. There was a young professional group there too.
I met a bunch of really neat people including: Laurie Joslin, President & Founder of Unlimited Coaching Solutions; Judy Dickinson, Independent Sales Director from Mary Kay; Carmen G. Lonardo, Realtor Associate, Canal Walks Realtors; David Blaszk (he’s starting his own company), Julia Dickinson, Rochester Business Journal; and Karissa D. Raymond of KDR Communications.
Our next meet up will be held on May 19 at 5 pm at Peter Guyer Steakhouse in Rochester. We would love to have one or two more people join us. Let us know if you are interested in joining us….
