Moov Now – New Wearable Review
If you’re active and enjoy different sports, then the Moov Now is for you.
Moov Now is a new wearable device that monitors and tracks running, swimming, cycling, strength training, boxing and cardio workouts. It evens tracks your sleep!
Move Now provides you with a virtual coach who will review and evaluate your strokes, your cadence, and your climb. I was particularly interested in Moov Now. When I watched the YouTube video on Facebook and saw that it also evaluated your stroke in the water! Now how cool is that?
Most of the wearables out on the market today, can track your speed in the water and your distance, but don’t evaluate your actual stroke and its efficiency.
So I requested a sample to take a test drive.
When the box arrived at my office, I immediately opened it and was struck by the sleek design and the texture of the new wearable. It’s a smooth and silky bracelet, which came in two sizes in the box, and it was as comfortable to wear as it was touch.
The one thing I found a bit cumbersome was to turn it on, you had to push it in to activate. (I secretly wished it would know which activity I was doing and when I was doing it, as well.) I found that pushing the round device was not the most effective way to start it up because you had to really push it and when you were wearing it, it wasn’t comfortable. Another thought I had was to incorporate a small button on the side to activate.
Moov Now comes with an app that you download on your iPhone or Android device. Before embarking on a workout, you need to sync it with your device to get it started.
Other key features include waterproof, you don’t have to charge it, ultra light (you barely feel it’s there), Bluetooth, and you can wear it on your wrist or your ankle.
On the first test drive, I wore it on the swim. It didn’t download properly, but I didn’t follow the instructions either. On the second try, I pushed the circular sensor, put on my app, pressed start and I was ready to begin my workout. I swam for nearly 3,000 yards and incorporated various strokes.
Here’s what I found:
What I thought was also interesting about the Moov Now is it works with a lithium battery, so you never have to charge it. According to the marketing materials, the battery lasts a year.
I also tried it for running and it also showed some interesting results. Although you need to wear the Moov Now on your ankle, I really didn’t feel it at all when I was running.
I haven’t tried it for cycling yet, but I’m assuming it works the same way. You turn on your app, sync with the wearable and you begin your activity. During the run, I was also being coached the entire way. As I ran, it told me my speed, distance, and cadence.
This wearable isn’t really for a triathlete who may need a lot more data, but it would be perfect for someone who just wants to either start to workout in any of these individual sports or to improve in any of these sports.
