“Like” Social Media?

Then you will “love” the Social Media Association, Inc. (SMA). This group is for marketing people, communications folks, bloggers or anyone who is interested in social media.

I am president and founder. Joining me on the board are:

Although the board is solidified, there are plenty of voluntary committees forming and we would love others to get involved. There’s plenty of slots for membership, sponsorships, promotions and more.

We held our first meeting last Friday, June 15^th at 8:30 a.m. at 145 Pinelawn Road in Melville. After some announcements, there was an open mike invitation and Bert Cunningham got up and spoke about an article he read in the New York Times.  Our guest speaker was Ken Braun of Lounge Lizard who talked about his new social networking site, ManWall, for men who want to be men.

Greenway Plaza Office Park sponsored our first meeting.

Our next meeting is a tweet up on the beach.  The date is July 11 and it will start at 6pm.  More details to follow. The tweet up is free for members. There will be a nominal charge for non-members.

Professional membership is $100, Student membership is $25 and Corporate membership is $250 for up to three people.  Membership includes discounts to all events, free admissions to tweet-ups (a tweet-up is a networking meeting where you have the opportunity to tweet at the same time) and educational information and training.  For membership details click here.
