Last Night I Dreamt of San Pedro…

I didn’t know that Madonna wrote a song about San Pedro Belize. Did you?

Last night I dreamt of san pedro
Just like I’d never gone, I knew the song
A young girl with eyes like the desert
It all seems like yesterday, not far away

Last week when we were in San Pedro, Belize, we drove around the island on a golf cart. There were no cars there, just golf carts.

As we were driving a very large woman told us to stop the cart. “I’m telling you about a place that is so beautiful,” she said. “It’s a place that you want to stop and tour around. Come pick out a raffle and see what you won.”

My husband picked one and told me to pick one. “she’s the lucky one,” he said. I reached my hand in and pulled out the first place prize, a trip for four for seven nights, valued at $2,000.

“Oh, my lord, you are so lucky,” the woman said. We later foun out her name was “Mel.” “Now I can stop working for the rest of the day and I earned myself a $100 U.S.!”

I hugged her. She was so excited. My husband and I looked at each other. We knew what this was. It was one of those time shares that would take hours of time until you gave up and told them you would buy something.

When we passed Mel on the road and she was jumping up and down for us to go inside the resort, we told her we would come back later….

Later never came…
