My birthday was last week. I celebrated with my husband and two kids on a Continental plane from Panama to Newark. It was nice to be with the family, I could have done without the sonic noise! When we got on the ground, I had that buzzing in my ears for the rest of the day…
Before I left, my staff wanted to know if they could organized a birthday party for me on May 2. Always open for a good party, I said “sure!”
When Friday rolled around, after a long week, a few of us took car service into the city and went to my favorite restaurant for dinner, Gyu Kaku, located at Cooper Union in the village. The five of us, Kristie, Lisa, Allie, Lori and I had an amazing meal. Each time I go there, I love it even more than the last time!
After dinner, we met the rest of the staff at 2nd on 2nd, a Karaoke bar in the village. I never realized how serious people take Karaoke until I went to that club in the city for my bday! It seemed like everyone thought they were on American Idol! There was no chatting, just listening. I actually heard one of my favorite songs and went up on stage with three guys and they told me I “better get my butt back in my seat!”
We had a lot of fun. Rick, Kristie and Ellen made solo performances. Even our IT guy, Seth Zuckerman sang a country western song!
I really want to thank my entire staff for being great company and for organizing the night for me. It was really a lot fun. (We always have fun when we’re together, especially when there’s Karaoke involved. The venue even had Red Bull!)
