It all started as a joke. My 11 year old son added me to Facebook and within days of using it, I was hooked. I became friends with a writer from the New York Times, Newsday, Long Island Business News and before I knew it, I had more than 300 friends in business and my personal worlds!
Facebook is a great tool for new business development. I have met new people on Facebook and have used it to personally get together. Interestingly, the other day, I was at a networking function and a woman came up to me and introduced herself as my Facebook buddy!
I’ve also been using Facebook to promote events and conduct informal surveys.
On a personal note, I have reconnected with friends from elementary school through college. It’s been great to catch up after 20++ years!
My daughter embarrassingly tells everyone that her whole family is on Facebook. “Even my grandma,” she says as she rolls her eyes.
It’s funny, the kids think that Facebook is just for them. But, Facebook has become so much more. Facebook has become the ultimate virtual networking tool and it’s user friendly for all! If you’re not on it, you are definitely missing out…
