Since I’ve lived on Long Island my entire life (well most of it), a lot of people ask me for top things to do on Long Island, so I developed this list. If you have any other tops for Long Island, please include in the comment section. (P.S. there’s no particular order here…)
-
- Go to Tanger Outlets in Riverhead – I don’t know about you, but I love it there. You can spend the entire day shopping and get some great bargains.
- Spend the day at the Wineries – I love the northfork of Long Island. It’s so beautiful there and touring the wineries is a lot of fun. But bring a designated driver with you… The wine will go right to your head!
- Check out the Hamptons – I don’t go there often but when I do I find it to be a lot of fun with chic shops and interesting restaurants. And don’t forget the gorgeous beach!
- Visit Long Beach – That’s where I live and I love it here. The beach is magnificent and before the hurricane, there was a boardwalk that spanned 2.1 miles in each direction. Hopefully the boardwalk will be rebuilt before the summer and when you come for a visit, be sure to check it out.
- Go to White Post Farms in Melville – Sometimes I still think I’m a kid but I absolutely love this place. You can feed the baby animals, pick pumpkins in the fall and even get some delicious fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Play Golf – There are so many challenging public golf courses on Long Island including: Bethpage, the National, Tall Grass and Eisenhower Park.
- See a Concert at the Paramount – Huntington is a cool town with lots of funky shops and things to see. The Paramount in Huntington is a great place to see concerts. It’s an upscale version of Terminal 5 in the city.
- Visit Jones Beach – Whether you want to play mini golf, walk on the boardwalk, lie in the sand or see a concert there, Jones Beach State Park has a lot to offer.
- Walk around Port Washington – This north shore community is also a cool place to spend the day. You can even walk over to the Marina and watch the boats.
- Spend the day at Spa Castle – okay, okay, I know this is in Queens but Queens is still part of Long Island isn’t it? Spa Castle is a day spa where you can spend the entire day in thermal pools or relaxing in various saunas ranging from a jade sauna to an ice sauna. They have massages, facials and scrubs and anything else you can think of and it’s sure to be a day of just pure bliss.
