Happy Birthday Mom

This post is dedicated to everyone who has a “living” mother.  Please give your mother a call or a hug for me today and tell her you love her and how much she means to you.  Unfortunately, I won’t get that opportunity again… But, knowing that you hugged your mother on this day, will mean a lot to me.

A mother’s love for a child, no matter how old the child may be, is unconditional. And the reverse is true as well.  To me, my mother is my best friend.

It’s funny, I was always close with my mom but as I got older and had kids of my own, I realized how much she means to me.

Today is my mom’s birthday.  Yes, my birthday was yesterday and so was my sister’s birthday.  Coincidentally, my mom celebrated two births on her birthday.

Growing up, my mom was always involved in community service. She was even President of the PTA. I always looked up to her.  I loved her strength and endurance even though she had been through so much in her life.  I always admired her.  I still admire her.

She is a friendly, loving, giving person who is very stubborn and set in her ways, but she is always there to listen.

So on this birthday, I’m in Florida to celebrate with her.  Please join me in wishing my mom a very happy and healthy birthday year!

I wrote this post in 2012.  I spent my last birthday with my mom last year. She passed away on June 1, 2012.  She will always be in my heart and my thoughts.  I don’t think I’ll ever stop thinking about how much I miss her.
