I don’t know about you, but every day, I spend at least an hour figuring out my schedule. I’m constantly arranging and rearranging!
Just when I thought everything was straight, I’ll get an important call from a potential client who needs to see me on a specific date. As it turns out, that date has three or four appointments that need to be rescheduled. I feel bad about it, but I have no choice.
Most people are accommodating. But sometimes, I get angry people who refuse to reschedule. Those people are almost never clients, they usually are just people I know who want to network. They say, “if you can’t do it, it won’t happen.” In those cases, I just move on.
Sometimes I find I’ve booked myself in Hauppauge, NYC and Garden City in the same day. Then I need to cancel one of those meetings. Or, I have three evening meetings in Manhattan and one on Long Island. If I don’t cancel one of those appointments, I’m totally “blown away!”
I once hired someone to help me with my schedule, but she was having the same problem. And, I was off and running from one appointment on one end of town to another appointment on the other end of town! Since that didn’t work, it was back to me again.
One of my EO (Entrepreneurs’ Organization) friends told me I need a new booker. “Yeah,” I told him, “maybe I should fire myself…”
What do you do to deal with conflicts? How do you choose which meeting is more important or can be switched over another? I would love to hear your opinion…
