I have been a customer of Commerce Bank/TD Bank for more than 10 years. I don’t know about you, but every time I deal with Commerce, I mean TD Bank, I get frustrated and angry. Why? Well, I’ll tell you, I don’t think it’s the most convenient bank. As a matter of fact, I think it’s the most inconvenient bank.
Every time I walk into the bank there are such long lines. I feel like I wait for hours to finally sit down with a bank representative, only to find that they can’t help me! Or, if they could help, I find myself waiting in the chair by their desk while they go into the bank of the bank. I sit and wait for them to come back and again feel like so much time has passed that I look through my emails, play paper toss on the iphone and even make a few phone calls.
Today was classic. I went into the branch in Westbury and asked the teller to cash a check into Euros. “What?” she said to me.
“Can you cash the money into euros?” I asked again starting to feel the anger going through my body.
“We don’t do that,” she said. “We only have American money.”
Under my breath but loud enough for her to hear, I said, “so much for the most convenient bank. TD is the most inconvenient bank.”
“Well, you know, no bank will help you here,” she said.
“Really?” I said. “My husband was able to get British pounds at Citibank.”
“Well, you need to order the money and it could take a long while,” she said.
I walked out of the bank tonight and shook my head. How can they say it’s the most convenient bank when it’s not? Maybe the time is right to switch? What do you think?
