Like most of you, I’ve had my share of phony phone calls at my house, on my cell but I never had a phony phone call at work until the other day.
“Can I talk with Hilary Topper,” the man asked Lori Alexy when she answered the phone.
“Who is calling?” she asked. “And what is this in regards to?”
The man wouldn’t say. He wouldn’t even give a last name. I was on the other phone. Lori sent me an instant message saying that I should call this guy back because he was a new business prospect.
I didn’t think it was anything, but I called because I’ve made it a policy to return all calls. When I got him on the phone, he asked me if we do “rollover plans.”
“Rollover plans?” I asked. “I’m sorry but I don’t know what that is….”
“You don’t know?” he asked. “Aren’t you a PR firm?”
“Yes, but I’m sorry I don’t know what a rollover is….” I said.
The next thing I heard was laughter. My clients along with Kristie Galvani were on the other end of the phone and said, “we got you!”
I just laughed, shook my head and thought this is a first!
