As you know, I won a ticket on British Airways to London on their “Face to Face” Contest. I’m not going to brag about it or anything, but I will say that British Airways knows how to do business.
All of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization winners along with other winners from British Airways met at JFK Airport at 7 am for a private reception with champagne and a full breakfast, followed by presentations from BA officials. After the presentations, I met up with some of my EO buddies including: Fran Bidderman-Gross, Herta Krieger and some other folks. It was also nice to finally met Jade Boneff-Walsh and Ryan Meyer from EO global.
When it was time to get on the plane, I was taken aback. We were all greeted so incredibly nice by the BA staff. I was told that my seat was upstairs. One of the flight attendants took my bag and walked me up the stairs. I was shown to my seat and realized that it was one of those sleeper seats that I had heard about but never saw. (You know that huge billboard ad when you come off the mid-town tunnel and you see British Airways sleepers? I had one!!!!)
I was so lucky too. I sat next to an amazing woman named Jackie who was with an investment banking firm and had the opportunity to network with so many different people from all over including travel editors and travel bloggers. What an experience!
Champagne was given out to the people on board. I was so excited, I wanted to call home. I looked for my cell phone but it wasn’t anywhere. I knew I had it. Where could it be? I realized I left it down in the lounge area, told an attendant, who quickly got off the plane and found the cell phone for me.
Two of the BA officials came over to me and told me that if they couldn’t find my phone, they would have flown it to me at the Sofitel on the next flight. Now that is true customer service!
The flight was amazing. I’m telling you, I’ve been on a lot of flights across the country and overseas and have never had an experience like this. The food was excellent, the champagne didn’t stop coming and it was totally relaxing.
We even had the opportunity to talk with BA representatives who were incredibly nice and accommodating.
When we got to London, check in was so easy. We were given room assignments at the Sofitel at the airport and BA made us a wonderful welcome party (with more champagne!).
I don’t know about anyone else but I will certainly fly British Airways again and again. It may be a little more expensive, but it is certainly worth the cost! I felt like I was treated like the Queen! Thank you British Airways and thank you Entrepreneurs’ Organization for making me aware of this contest!
