I didn’t win…. But, I will tell you, it did feel nice to get the recognition as one of four finalists for the Stevie Awards for Women in Business. These finalists were from around the world. Folks flew in from London, Australia, California and Texas! They included: SheFinds.com, Theglasshammer.com and Leading Workplace Change. The glasshammer.com won. Kudos to all the finalists and to the winner!
The event wasn’t as nice as I would have thought. There was a cash bar from 5:30 – 6:30 pm where they charged $11 per drink, even for a glass of wine! I didn’t really think this was right since they charged us $195 per ticket! The event itself wasn’t that great either. For some reason, they didn’t announce the finalists only the winners. That part was okay but when they called up finalists from out of state, that I thought was a problem! Either you call up everyone or you only call up the winners!
Some people thought that the worst part of the event was the “rubber chicken.” I think speaking for a few of us, our stomachs definitely hurt that night!
In any event, my staff and I went to Johnny Utah’s after the event. We had a few drinks, had a few laughs and Stefanie Topper, event planner, even rode the bull! Now that I’m out $100 bucks because I said to the staff “anyone who rides the bull now gets a $100 bonus!” (It was so funny, it was worth the $100!)
It was a great evening. It was especially nice to be with my extended family, my staff! What a wonderful group of people!
Thanks to all of you for your good wishes…. and you never know, maybe I’ll win next year!
