Nestled in the heart of Huntington, Long Island, Besito Mexican offers an unexpected yet delightful culinary escape. Our visit was serendipitous, sparked by a reservation mishap at another nearby eatery, but it turned into a memorable dining experience that was well worth the detour.
The Ambiance
Upon arrival, we were seated outdoors, where the ambiance was as refreshing as the evening breeze. It set the perfect stage for a casual yet refined dinner. Our meal kicked off with an order of guacamole. While requested mild, it leaned slightly on the bland side, missing an anticipated kick of spice that typically elevates the dish. Nonetheless, it was a fresh start to our evening.
What We Had
The main courses, however, were the stars of the night. We indulged in the Iron Skillet Tacos with Grilled Chicken, which allowed us the fun of assembling our tacos. The chicken was tender and well-seasoned, making each bite delightful. You didn’t need the soft tacos that came with it.
Accompanying this was the El Dorado—a dish featuring Branzino fish elegantly coated with crab. The combination was exquisite, offering a rich, indulgent taste that was satisfying and memorable. However, be warned: those with sensitive stomachs might want to keep some antacids handy after enjoying these flavorful dishes.
To conclude our meal, we savored a light and flavorful orange flan. Its delicate texture and citrusy notes provided a perfect palate cleanser, leaving a sweet note to round off our dining journey.
Mexican Worry Dolls
In a charming twist, Besito Mexican presents diners with a pair of Mexican worry dolls—a quaint and thoughtful gesture. Unfortunately, with no place to store them, we left them on the table, perhaps inadvertently leaving our worries with them.
Besito Mexican in Huntington offers a culinary experience that, despite a few minor hiccups, is well worth the visit. It’s a place where good food and charming touches create a dining atmosphere that lingers pleasantly in memory.
