I had breakfast with Lee Bogner of Marden-Kane Inc. and Paul Biederman of Redesign talking about the Social Media Club of Long Island (SMCLI). I founded the Long Island chapter several months ago and because of the strong board, we have grown tremendously.
After breakfast, we got the bill. It was approximately $16. We decided to split it three ways and add a tip. Paul, I thought, put five dollars down. Lee put $6 down, I put down a $10 and I said to Paul, I’ll spot you for the other two dollars. And, I proceeded to place another down $2 on the counter.
Lee went to count the money and we were missing money. The cashier said, “you took the $20 and pocketed it.”
I looked at him and the other two guys, “WHAT???? I wouldn’t do that…”
“You did,” he insisted.
Paul went on to tell me that he had put down a $20 not a $5. “OMG, I am so sorry,” I said. I put the $20 back on the table. Lee paid the bill and gave everyone back their change.
“You’ll spot me?” said Paul, kidding me. I was so embarrassed. I think my recent move to Melville totally got to my head!
HAHA something I have definitely done before as well!
Oh yowser – I hate moments like those!
