Blogworld was better than I expected. The sessions were intermediate to advance level and were real thought-provoking. Most of the speakers were dynamic and I felt that I even learned something!
I also found it interesting walking through the vendor exhibits because there were so many new products that I had never heard of. I’m looking forward to bringing it all back and sharing with my clients… (Don’t worry, I’ll be reviewing them here too…)
A funny thing happened last night that I thought I would share with you. Blogworld sponsored a party at the Mirage Hotel at a club called, “Jet.”
I’ll be honest, I was reluctant to attend. I didn’t really know anyone and I wasn’t sure what to expect. When I walked in, there were dozens of people sitting alone in this loud club, tweeting. I walked over to the bar to order a drink — more tweeting. No one was talking, just tweeting.
“Is this what we’ve become?” I said to one of the guys standing next to me. He just smiled and walked away.
I decided to walk around and see if I could network a little. No such luck…. people were so absorbed they weren’t really reacting. I did find a few people who were ready, willing and able to do the “conversation” thing, so I did chat with a few interesting folks.
As the free beer was coming out in buckets to the attendees, people started to loosen up a bit. The club started to play old 1970’s disco music and the next thing I noticed, a lot of people were up and dancing. There were several people dancing with their iphones!
I just laughed to myself…. finished my drink and decided to go shopping…. Hey, you know it is Vegas and the stores stay open until midnight!
