Yesterday, the Entrepreneurs Organization NYC (EO NYC) chapter organized a golf outing for members of the golf “peer” group. There were eight of us, eager to compete against each other. I was a little intimidated because the guys I was playing with seemed to be decent golfers but after the first hole, I felt more confident.
We got through about five holes at HarborLinks in Port Washington and all of a sudden, the sky turned dark and rain came down in sheets! We were soaked. One of the members of my foursome, Damon, was doing so well on the fifth hole that he decided to continue golfing in the torrential rain. He ran out of the cart and finished off the hole with a par!
I was impressed!
The eight of us were so wet that we stopped playing and raced back to the clubhouse for shelter. The course gave everyone a rain check, which I thought was very nice! There were so many older people there complaining that I don’t think management had much of a choice.
In any event, we ate lunch in the club house and the sun came out. “Let’s go out again….” some of the folk who I was with said.
“Ummm…. I don’t think so,” I said. “I’m soaked right through everything, including my shoes! I think I’m going to take a rain check.”
I went home, changed and went back to work… Today, I’m going to try to golf again… Hopefully this time I can get in 18 before the rain!
