Last night I was honored, along with 49 other women who live and/or work on Long Island, by Long Island Business News (LIBN) as part of their 50 Top Business Women program. The event was held at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.
I brought Kristie Galvani, HJMT‘s Senior VP, and Lori Alexy, HJMT‘s VP, along with me. Both have been vital in our firm’s growth and development and I wanted to share the experience with them.
When we walked into the Crest Hollow, we saw my good friends, Peter Goldsmith of LISTnet and Yacov Shamash of Stony Brook. After saying hello, we walked upstairs and were escorted to the cocktail party where photos were taken of the three of us.
After that, we all went into the main ballroom, had salad and dinner and then, Marlene McDonnell of LIBN, came to my table and told me that all the honorees were lining up outside in the hall.
There, I saw some of my old friends like Geri Gregor of Grassi & Co., Flo Federman of Holtz Rubenstein, Beverly Fortune of the Morey Organization, and Anne Shybunko-Moore of GSE Dynamics.
I met a lot of new friends last night as well. I had great conversations with Wilma Holmes Tootle of the Links, Saskia Monteiro Thomson of Marcum & Kliegman, Candy Udell of London Jewelers and Yanique Woodall of 1-800 Flowers.
I was really impressed with the calibre of honorees and I was truly humbled by the experience.
One by one, each woman was escorted by either someone who works at LIBN or one of the event sponsors. I was lucky to have Joe Benty of Meyer Suozzi escort me. Joe and I have known each other for many years so it was especially special to have him escort me to receive my award.
Special thanks to Long Island Business News for the wonderful event last night. Congratulations to all the honorees and to those of you who missed it, it was a lot of fun!
P.S. This was my second time as an honoree.
