Where Chefs Eat – A Guide to Chefs’ Favorite Restaurants – Book Review
I received an unsolicited book in the mail and when I opened up the package, I was pleasantly surprised to find the hefty book, Where Chefs Eat – A Guide to Chefs’ Favorite Restaurants – Top Tips from the Real Experts compiled by Joe Warwick, Evelyn Chen, Natascha Mirosch and Joshua David Stein.
The book is a guide book. Whether you travel frequently or just want to get recommendations from top chefs around the world, this book is for you. I’m going to Italy with my family in May and to be honest, I’m psyched to see the recommendations so that I can make a list before I go.
I’m also excited that Savannah, Georgia is in the book. I can’t wait to sample some of these top picks when I go there for the Half Ironman event I’m doing in September.
The book is organized first by chefs. It lists 653 chefs from around the world, 7,043 recommendations, 4,528 restaurants, 1,283 restaurants around the US, and displays their top picks for restaurants from “high end” to personal favorites “worth the travel.”
It then is organized by area – Europe, North America, South America, etc. Then within each country, it segments it even further so that wherever you are, there are favorites everywhere!
Where Chefs Eat is more than 1000 pages and packed with information. The biggest problem is that there’s so much information that the copy is very small. Make sure to have your reading glasses or a magnifier before reading the book.
However, it is a great resource and if you love to eat and consider yourself a “foodie” then, you may want to pick up a copy for your bookshelf. The price is $35 and can be bought through the publisher, Phaidon.com or on Amazon for $23.79
