Stanley Stevens makes the most amazing cheesecakes. Everyone who knows him, knows of “Uncle Milty’s Cheesecake.” My daughter, recently interviewed him for her journalism class and I thought it was such a good story, I wanted to share with all of you….

From his flannel shirt, his tattered jeans and his engineering job, one would never suspect Stanley Stevens to be a cheesecake connoisseur.
Stevens, a 51-year-old resident of Long Beach, NY, has been baking cheesecakes since he was 14 years old.
Stevens now plans to challenge Bobby Flay, a famous chef, to a cheesecake “throw-down” in the next few weeks.
“A ‘throw-down’ is what Bobbly Flay does on his show, where he challenges the best chefs to a specific food competition,” Stevens said.
“However, on the show he surprises the chefs, and I still want to have the chance to challenge him, so I figure this is the best way to do that,” he said.
“My friend Jerry Martia [Radio personality of 104.3 radio station] is going to announce on his show that Stanley Stevens is coming for Bobby Flay to create a buzz and to make my plan known to the rest of New York,” he said.
Stevens says that he is going to Bobby Flay’s restaurant in New York City and is going to present him with his cheesecake.
“People always bug me to get my cheesecake well known, so that is exactly what I am going to do,” Stevens said.
“His cheesecake is amazing. It is so light and I could eat like ten slices! I’ve watched many shows on the Food Network and I know that he could beat Bobby Flay,” said Luke Winston, 15-year-old nephew of Stevens and devoted fan of the Food Network.
Stevens’ family owned a restaurant in the Bronx so, “I was always interested in cooking,” he said.
He took a cooking class in school, but he said that he never liked any of the recipes that they offered so, he wanted to make his own.
“I really like what I do, however, making cheesecake is a chance for me to express myself outside of the workplace,” he said referring to his job as a maintenance engineer.
Stevens has won many awards for his cheesecake, which he named “Uncle Milton’s Cheesecake,” such as, Club Getaway, Betty Crocker Cheesecake Award.
“My cheesecake has impacted my life so much, I have even gotten a few dates from it,” he said jokingly.
“I am so proud of my son and his achievements, especially his determination to make his excellent cheesecake known,” said Sue Stevens, mother of Stevens.
The only thing left for Stevens to say is, “Bobby Flay, here I come!”
