This was the first time I attended the 2019 Summer Fancy Food Show in NYC. I’ve been to other shows as an exhibitor, representing a variety of clients. So, it was interesting to be on the “other side.”
The Fancy Food Show was one of the most interesting and exciting shows I’ve been to in a long time.
According to the Specialty Food Association, there were more than 2,400 companies exhibiting during the three-day show. Exhibitors were from NY to Hawaii and Louisiana to Maine. There were more than 1,200 exhibitors from around the world. The show took place on four floors at the Javitz Center in NYC.
The show producers said that the top five areas for growth include:
- plant-based meat alternatives
- rice cakes
- water
- tea and coffee
The Specialty Food Association was formed in 1952 and had 3,800 members from the US and abroad. The association has two major shows a year in the summer and winter. They also present a top brand with a Sofi award, which many of the vendors exhibited at their booths.
I met quite a few interesting and unique food companies at the event. Some of the highlights include:
Peekaboo, a company that makes Ice Cream from vegetables. Sounds horrible, but I tried several of the flavors and, you know what? It tasted great! (I’m not kidding!)
Saltvert, a company created and produced in Iceland, that make different types of salts from Lava salt to Seaweed Salt. These salts are all from the Icelandic waters.
Clarkson Avenue Crumb Cake was out of this world. It was so good. Here, I’m dieting and couldn’t resist. The cakes were soft and just melted in your mouth!
Here are some other companies worth showing you:
I met so many interesting exhibitors and tasted so many new products. I was truly in heaven. There’s nothing better than eating great food!
